In this marking period, I learned that Spanish words can be masculine or feminine; to know whether a word is feminine or masculine, feminine words end with an 'a' and masculine 'o'. The definite article (the) for feminine nouns is 'La' [singular] or 'Las' [plural]. The definite article for masculine nouns is 'El' [singular] and 'Los' [plural]
Another First Marking Period Assignment: Day of the Dead Altar
In this assignment, I learned that in the Day of the Dead, it is Hispanic Culture to honor the loved ones that passed away using altars. When my class was first introduced to this by Mrs. Dominguez, most of us (--all of us) were creeped out because there were scary looking skulls in which we now know that they are called the, "La Catrinas." I also learned that the altars is a day of mourning for relatives or as mentioned before loved ones that has passed away. Another thing that I didn't know was that the altar has specific items to be included for example, in an altar, there should be photos of the person who passed away, items that are important to the person or that represents them in a way, candles, flowers, the skulls (la catrina), skull candies and more.
After seeing examples of altars, students were assigned to create their own, featuring an person to be in the altar. I chose Steve Jobs. Through this altar assignment, I researched on the biography of Steve Jobs and learned many things about him. For example, I learned that he at first was a worker that earned not that much of a pay but he still managed. Although I do not have my altar, here's an example of one:

Second Marking Period Assignment: Spanish Brochure on Hispanic Artist
In this assignment, I learned a lot of facts on the artist Pedro Leon Zapata. Through researching, I learned that he was an artist who drew paintings that revolve around the politics in his country, Venezuela. Through his drawings, he expresses how he and the public feels about the government's actions using dark humor.
