Technology 8th Grade
First Semester
9/22/16 This week was my class's first week of tech. We reviewed over emergency routines like lock downs as well as after school programs.
9/29/15 Today, we had our typing assessment on assessment 14. My initial score was 60 wpm with 100% accuracy.
10/6/15 Today, we reviewed requirements for the First Semester. We were to finish up any work that were not completed and were supposed to be completed in the summer/7th grade.
10/13/15 No class today due to 8th Grade Breakfast.
10/20/15 Today, we were introduced a year-long project on an gardening engineering project. We went over the requirements and I learned that this project wasn't going to be simple but quite complex.
10/27/15 In today's class, we were introduced to the SketchUp program. I already have had experience on how to use this program, so it is good review for me. With this program, we could really demonstrate our plan for the project efficiently. Another thing was that we were to decide our partners for the project. I learned that big long term projects like this one are carried out by groups of scientists from all over the world, each mastering in one specific subject which is one of the major factors that makes a group successful.

Second Semester
11/3/16 No class due to Election Day.
11/10/16 Today, we went over what work was to be done and to make-up for the previous semester.
11/17/15 Today, we started to watch and followed along the SketchUp video tutorial. We also reviewed the Urban gardening outline.
11/24/15 Today, we went over the requirements for the semester/what works are to expected from us. We also started on working on Blendspace and sharing links that may help us with the project with our partners.
12/1/15 We had a typing assessment and I scored 60 wpm with 100% accuracy.
12/8/15 In today's class, we were introduced to a website for students to code called, "Codesters". I think this program is very fun and simple at the same time yet looks professional.
12/15/15 Today, we continued our work on SketchUp. I learned that you can type in the measurements by just typing the numbers.
12/22/15 We worked on SketchUp today and I learned that you can draw a parallel line from a point by initially placing a point then moving the mouse cursor to a midpoint of edge which leads to making a line snapping to become parallel of edge.
1/5/16 Happy New Year~ We continued where we left off on SketchUp last year.
1/12/16 Today, we worked on Lesson 3 of SketchUp video tutorials. I learned that if you want to push/pull or offset the same amount on another surface, you can select the area you want to perform the action on and then double clicking the surface.
1/19/16 Today, we continued where we left off last week in SketchUp.
1/26/16 We had a typing assessment today. I scored an initial 60 wpm with 98% accuracy and this was due to malfunctioning keyboard!!!
Completion of Code Course 4
Third Semester
2/2/16 We made up any missing assignments from the previous marking period today.
2/9/16 Today we were tested on a SketchUp lesson. We had to create a table with the help of a SketchUp tutorial at the SketchUp website. One thing I had learned from this testing was that in the program, one way that you can flip an object is by using the scaling tool and scale it to -100% (or a factor of -1).
2/16/16 Mid-Winter Recess; No school
2/23/16 Today we took a re-take of the test we took two weeks ago.
3/1/16 Today, we took a typing assessment. Unfortunately, there was not significant improvement.
3/8/16 Today, we learned more features of SketchUp. We learned about the copying and rotating objects. I learned that you can make multiple copies of an object by after copying an object and making a copy of it (using the Ctrl option) you can make as many copies as you want, each copy having the same distance as the first clone by typing in the number of copies you want following with the letter x. You can also fit in a desired amount of copies between a original and the first clone by typing in the amount of copies you want in between the two (original and copied) then typing in the forward slash/division sign. You can also do this copying thing with rotations and make a ring of object.
3/15/16 Today, we worked more on SketchUp, focusing more on the features of scaling tools and selection.
3/22/16 Today we worked on creating a model of our school garden based on provided instructions.
3/29/16 Today, we had a typing assessment. There was a slight improvement.
4/5/16 New York English Language Arts Test; No class
4/12/16 Today, we had to make up any assignments that were assigned and have not yet been completed.
Here is one of my SketchUp designs:

Fourth Semester
4/19/16 Today, we continued to made up any assignments that have not yet been completed.
4/26/19 Spring Break; No school
5/3/16 Today we had a typing assessment. Unfortunately, I did not improve from the previous assessment. I shall try to practice more on my typing. After the assessment, we worked on Everfi. From the Everfi, I learned that the hockey sport involves more than just playing and that it includes calculations as well as science (e.g., I learned about kinetic and potential energy, as well as the sport like the skate blades and the angle of the hockey sticks and much more)
5/10/16 Today, we worked on SketchUp garden project by building the raised beds with PVC pipes. I learned that you can make an object stick to a certain axis by selecting and moving the object to an area that changes its direction to the desired axis and then pressing the shift key that would lock the object to go in the direction of the axis.
5/17/16 Today, we worked on creating the school garden map as well as retrieving 3D models from the 3D warehouse.
5/24/16 Today, we worked on designing the school garden with the raised beds that has PVC pipes, trees, bushes, etc. I enjoyed doing that because it was fun organising a new look to the school garden.
5/31/16 Typing Assessment; WPM: 68 Accuracy: 100%
